Empaths Are Meant to be Spiritual Healers

Over my years as a psychic medium, I have worked with many clients who seemed to be ill for no apparent reason. Many of these clients have come to me as a last resort after countless doctors have not been able to find anything truly wrong with them. As one with empathic and healing abilities, I am able to scan people and find their illnesses, but there have been times when the scan shows, just as their doctors have told them, there is nothing that dramatically wrong.

In almost every case where there is no real health issue, I have been able to psychically pick up on instances and evidence of psychic ability, and pinpoint  with accuracy when they started experiencing psychic phenomenon. In almost every case, these people have trouble being out in public. They find themselves sicker when they are out in public. Many clients come to realize through their session with me that they are empathic. By pinpointing a few public empathic episodes, they come to realize they are feeling the physical and / or emotional pain of others. So, how does an  empath learn to control this? How does one with empathic abilities learn to cope with the rest of the world? The answers are actually simple.

First off, we are all spiritual energy. Some of us have innate ability to take in the energy of others. I do not believe this is something we have full control over, but it does happen.  Those who take a lot of the energy of others in, need to take time for them self. Meditation, solitude, alone time is crucial. This meditative time is very needed to keep one in balance for the work God has set out for them. Through meditation, they may come to understand why they feel so much from others and take so much of others in.

The second thing to always keep in mind when this pain comes up while out in public is that it is not your pain, and you do not have to take it all in. When you are out somewhere and start to feel this, remind yourself with this simple mantra, “This is NOT my pain. I do not have to feel this. This is NOT my pain.” This should help you to block out some of this pain which is not yours to begin with. If the mantra does not work and you are a more visual person, then visualize yourself in a protective bubble created to block out the pain of others specifically.

The third and most important thing to keep in mind is that God does not let us feel the pain of others as a form of punishment. Those who can feel the pain of others are in fact, not just empathic, but also  natural healers. If you are with someone and feel their pain, and they are comfortable enough to allow it, perhaps laying hands on them, in the place you feel the pain is called for. Ask God to heal them of their pain and / or anguish as you do this. You may find that they feel better from your help, whether the pain dissipates  permanently or temporarily.

I also would highly suggest that anyone who is experiencing the trials of empathic ability check into learning a healing modality. There are many forms and modalities to choose from, such as Reiki, Pranic Healing, and Shamanic Touch to name a few. All modalities have the same basic principles in their early teachings, and will help anyone with empathic struggles to start to understand, harness, and transform an ability that seemed like a curse into a precious gift.

With so many people feeling the trials of empathic ability, I can not help but to think that if more people became aware, we could have enough healers to heal the whole world. Imagine the possibilities!

I naturally knew about all this and I do my best to help others. But alas, many people are not open to understanding this. It is very difficult for me not to help people, as I cannot force it on anyone who isn’t willing to allow it to be.

But soon I hope that everyone sees the simple truth. Thank you for this posting, it helped me understand this much better.

  2. Valerie, thank you for this post. For the past few months I’ve become more and more aware that I take on other people’s emotions without knowing it, but tonight was new for me when my left shoulder started hurting after watching a movie. I realized I’d taken on the emotions of one of the characters—I guess there’s a first time for everything! I’m definitely in the midst of an earthly tutorial, but apparently I’m onto a new path. I literally said a prayer minutes ago for help to know how to better protect myself and then read an email from a dear friend referring me to your site. Thank you for your guidance and for helping me feel supported and not so crazy (right??:).

I’ve been an emphatic my whole life and just thought it was my imagination. People flock to me and tell me their tales of woe. People I don’t know. I don’t even have to say a thing and they tell me their whole life story. I’ve had people that I barely know say I don’t know why, but I feel like I can tell you anything. One of my co-workers said I think you have a gift and I got mad saying, what, no, please. But over the past few months, I’ve think I’ve been guided to different websites and books showing me yes indeed, I do have a gift. I am now aware and would like to enhance it and would love to help people in doing so.

I want to add that a great way to build up energy to help ground and protect yourself is to walk in nature, maybe surrounded by tress and birds or water or something like this – it really helps me and I would say I am empathic like this too, I also have a really good protection , invoking meditation/ritual I do every morning that I find really powerful and really helpful – you can find it on the Angelic Reiki International site which is angelic reiki magic .com (not my site) – it is called the lesser ritual of the pentagram for the morning (evening one good too and is more for ridding of energy). Also highly recommend Angelic Reiki as a healing modality if you are going to learn one – there is info all over the web on it, it is truly awesome and great for self healing too.

Valerie, thank you so much for this post. This is my second time reading it and I can’t tell you how much it has helped my friend Katie (who wrote above) and myself in the last several months. We are both so much aware of how we are picking up on others energy. Since I can remember I oftentimes would feel down and sad, or would just have a weird feeling for no reason. Whenever I experience this now I recognize this is not coming from me but from others I am around. If you have any other advice or insights about this my friend Katie and I would sure appreciate it. Thank you again! :)

    Thank You Valerie ,

Although this seems to be a phenomena that has always existed in me,
but till recently upon chance , stumbled into a topic ; are you a Empath.
It seems I am considered a ” out of control Healer ” so to speak.
I have always had the energy of giving comfort to others in many different forms,
both verbally soothing souls with words of comfort & by grasping peoples hands with the warmth of my compassion instilling vitality into others.
This is all new to be , but feels as If It is a Ancient force summoning me,
if you can understand what I mean by this.
It has taken many years of darkness , whereas coming into this spectrum of Light has been highly gravitating effects for me in doing so.
Well again thanks.. I have a journey ahead in the harnessing & conceptualization of all this in basic understanding.
    ~P
